WE GOT ENGAGED!!!!

Tim proposed!!! He surprised me sunday morning by telling me that I need to pack my bag cuz we were gonna be going somewhere and would be gone all day and all night. An hour later we left and 3.5 hours after that I found out where we were going when we arrived at the Elk Creek Vinyard in Owenton KY. We had a house all to ourselves and a chef came to make us a steak dinner that Tim had arranged. He proposed within an hour of getting there lol, I guess he wanted to get it over with :) It was so sweet, he did it by this pretty trellace in the garden overlooking the grapevines. I am SO HAPPY!!!!!!! I cannot wait to marry this wonderful, amazing man :) and here I thought he'd either propose with a puppy or at a Phish show... he pulled a fast one on me!

Cuz your friends don't dance and if they don't dance well they're no friends of mine

omg awesome. i love this song :)

Cupcake Fun Time!

For my brother's birthday last month and my friends birthday this week I decided to get crafty with cupcakes :) Everyone loves cupcakes, and if you can make them even more fun than they already are why not?? For Craig's Bday I made these super awesome Hamburger Cupcakes:
They are so easy to make!

You will need:

~ One box Yellow cake mix, One box chocolate cake mix (you can do from scratch too if you like!)

~ Red and Yellow gel food color (these offer a more intense color shade to mimic katchup and mustard as closely as possible)

~ Green liquid food color (to color the "lettuce", will distribute more evenly than gel)

~ Sweetened Coconut flakes

~ One container white or cream colored icing, the flavor is your choice

~ Seasame seeds

You will do:

~ Mix cake mixes according to instructions on box, fill cupcake tins with twice as many yellow cupcakes as chocolate ones

~ While cupcakes are baking, divide the icing into two bowls and dye one as red as you can get it and the other yellow

~ In another bowl put about about a cup or so of the coconut flakes, add 2 or 3 drops of the green food color. shake and toss until the flakes are an even green color

~ Once the cupcakes come out of the oven, sprinkle some seasame seeds on the yellow ones only and lightly press it to stick

~ Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, take them out of their wrappers and slice all the yellow ones in half. There are your buns!

~ For your patties, first slice off the curved "muffin top" of all the chocolate cupcakes, JUST the muffin top, and then slice the bottom portion in two so both patties are flat on both sides

~Build your hamburgers with your buns, patties, katchup, mustard, and lettuce as you would a real hamburger! I put both icing colors in two ziplock bags and snipped a tiny hole (like 1/16 in, no more) in one corner to pipe on the stuff as if i was squeezing it out of a katchup or mustard bottle.

Check out my awesome presentation skills:

love it! And last night I prepared Tie Dye Cupcakes for my friend at work today! These a slightly more simple to make:

You will need:

~ One box Yellow or Vanilla cake mix

~ A regular set of liquid food colors

~ Icing of your choice

You will do:

~ Mix up cake batter as per the instructions, then seperate evenly into 6 bowls.

~ Dye each bowl a different color, using a different spoon for each. You don't want any cross contamination! I used plain red (came out pink), plain blue, plain green, and mixed orange (about 8 drops yellow, 2 drops red), purple (12 drops red, 8 drops blue), and lime green (8 drops yellow, 2 drops green)

~ spoon about one spoonful of each color into each cup til they are 2/3 full. Do this in random order for each one so they're all different.

~ Bake per the instructions, and ice however you like!

Easy! I really loved making these and I know they'll be a hit! I used Buttercream icing dyed pink just because thats what i felt like. Enjoy!

Spock is sexy... didn't see that one coming

well, you can't tell so well from that poster but just trust me :) Tim and I saw Star Trek this weekend and WOW!! I have never gotten into the shows (tho I know I would love them) and if I wasn't a fan before I sure am now! They conveiniently arranged the plot so that in the future films they're gonna make they can do whatever they want without having to stick with any guidelines or limitations the old series might put on them. And I am fine with that! They can take as many creative liberties as they wish cuz so far I like what i see. I don't wanna give anything away tho so you'll have to see it to know what I'm talking about :) It's action packed and seriously, Spock is kinda sexy. Who knew?

Craig and I saw it for a second time each last night too. and i still want to see it again.

It's Magic!! A Paper Computer

I just think this video by Dutch artist Evelien Lohbeck is really cool. I love the simple, matter of fact way the things in this video are presented... its funny and quirky.

Twilight is AWESOME!!

I finally got around to watching the movie and OMG! I thought there was no hotter vamp than Bill on True Blood... I was mistaken. Edward is amazing!! I am now about to read all the books. I wonder how different the movie is from the book.... everyone should read this!

My brother: The award-winning film maker

My brother Craig and his friends made it to the Campus Movie Fest Northern Regional Finale in NYC this past weekend for their film Safety Rape. And it won BEST COMEDY out of the whole lot!! They will be going on to L.A. for the national finale this june!! YAY CRAIG!!!!!! Here's the film, its so funny! Craig was a producer and the editor of the film, as well as camera man I think.

We had a great day in the NYC! The film screenings were at the Tribeca Grand Hotel during the afternoon, and then the awards ceremony was held at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center that night. The host was Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock and they had presenters such as Ana Gasteyer (SNL), Amy Ryan (The Office), Artie Lange, Steve Guttenberg, etc. You can check out the Campus Movie Fest website for more info and check out the top movies page of the Northern Regional Finale section to see the other great films. I highly recommend "Scrabble: The Motion Picture" (Best Picture) and Balance.

The most Delicious Smoothie!

For breakfast I have been making protein shakes since thats the best thing to go along with the workouts. I use a combo of various fresh and frozen fruits, fruit juice or water, and either vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder. Well this morning I made the most delicious smoothie so I wanted to share the recipe! I didn't know how it would turn out but it was great! I call it....

Bluebanapple Smoothie:
~One banana
~About a cup frozen Pineapple chunks
~2/3 cup 100% natural, no sugar added Blueberry Juice*
~1 1/2 heaping scoops Vanilla Whey Protein

Blend until smooth, thats it! I was worried the blueberry juice might add a strange flavor but it didn't. The pineapple and banana together weren't too tropical either, it was just a nice light fruity flavor mellowed out by the vanilla I think. Everyone should try this, and enjoy!

*I can't remember the brand of blueberry juice but I found it in the produce section of Whole Foods and it has other juices mixed in but no additives.

Resist the Dark Side of the Farm

Finally made it to bootcamp

well i found the place alright this morning, only to realize i forgot my water bottle at home! ugg! tomorrow i swear ALL will go according to plan lol! it was a good workout. and a gorgeous morning, it was so nice watching the sun come up as we worked out, cuz we were facing east. the sky was gorgeous light purple. now tonight i have to remember to get to target and get heavier weights. the 3 pounders just aren't cutting it! and some better clothes, my pants always tend to start slipping down since i wear my hollister leggings and the waistband is made to be more flattering than functional. at least when moving around alot ha. the diet is going pretty well too, today i let myself have ONE chip with salsa off of a co-workers birthday snack bonanza, but thats it! soon i gotta run over to the cafe and get a salad, and later this afternoon i will have the baby carrots i brought in.

Monday, April 20, 2009

well this sucks....

I got up all early, got my shit together for breakfast and stuff, got my directions to hastings middle school where bootcamp is supposed to take place.... and i find no one there. i was even running a little late so it was only a couple minutes til 5:30 when i got there so there should have been cars parked somewhere around the school and all i found were school buses. the website says park near the pool but in the dark i saw no pool. i was expecting to see the cars of the other campers parked somewhere and that would tell me where to go, but no. nothing. wtf??? so now i'm a bit pissed they didnt mark where to go or something cuz i was forced to take today as my one off day for the week. what if i have to work late later this week and then i'm screwed? well i'm gonna do one of my workout tapes instead since i'm up all early and dressed for working out anyway. whatever.

I've decided to do Bootcamp again!

and this time i'm gonna stick to a fairly strict diet to try and get in the best shape i can! I have never been one to be toned and fit, and i would love to see if i can actually do it. i know its mostly diet so i've decided to follow the raw diet ashley had to do when she did bootcamp down in florida. she got great results from it so lets hope i do too! its basically all raw food, except i will be adding grilled chicken to the mix since i dont know if i can do ALL raw lol. i will have fruit smoothies for breakfast with whey protein added, lots of salads and raw veggie snacks, and dinner will include chicken every now and then. for salad dressing it can only be minimal EVOO and balsamic, and ashley gave me a great recipe for dressing that includes both of those with avacado to make it creamy, pepper, and oregano. i made a batch of it tonight to last me the week. and, as a point of motivation, i got a cute new bikini this weekend ha! I wasnt goint to do bootcamp cuz i wasnt sure if i could afford it but friday i decided to say fuck it and sign up again, and it starts tomorrow! i hope i meet my goals! losing weight isnt really the main goal, just to lose fat, gain muscle and tone, and to feel comfortable in a bikini for once would be amazing!

Easter

We spent easter sunday at tim's grandma's farm with the whole fam, it was nice! dinner was amazing and we had an easter egg hunt for the kiddies. bev even set up an easter egg hunt for the adults with lottery tickets inside each egg but surprise surprise, no one won anything :( well, larry got a free ticket but that doesnt really count :) right now i'm watching american idol and they have quintin terintino as their mentor as they choose songs from movies to perform. this show is great, everyones been doing pretty well so far. I also started to teach Bev how to do digi scrapbooking... I hope she keeps up with it! we'll prob need a few more lessons but i think she'll get it pretty well eventually.

Last weekend and other recent things

Well I havent written in a while so I will sum up the last few days as quickly as possible: Friday got some new things at ruehl, went to cinci. saturday tim went camping with cam, taylor, and kenzie; I went to dinner with missy at hugo's where danny works as a chef. had the most AMAZING fois gras, got drunk with crazy restaurant employees. sunday i enjoyed the nice weather and waited for tim to get back only to find out he sprained his ankle camping and has no idea why seeing as he was blacked out drunk when it happened. poor guy is hobbeling around now! work has been insanely busy and i have been finishing up bootcamp at the same time. i have to do 4 days of bootcamp this week cuz its the last week and i still have to make up a day i missed 2 weeks ago. i have been at work til almost midnight every day this week so far, last week i was here til 10 most days, and hopefully tonight wont be as late tho it might be. depsite all that i am still getting up at 430am to work out like a crazy person. good thing bootcamp's fun! good news: dar is moving home in a few weeks! that will be great to have him around again. i dont know if i will do bootcamp next month, i dont think i can afford it, but really want to continue! we'll see.

Julia's stay is over :(

We had a great weekend tho! She and Sally had to sit at the airport for nearly 3 hours before finally taking off around 10:30 thursday night! She got to my house at midnight so we still were able to make it to ladie's 80's thank god!! goodness, we were drunk! afterwards she wanted to go surprise a friend who lives near the short north and in my drunken confusion i didn't want to go and left her, making her have to find me looking like a lost puppy by the UDF lol!!! I have hazy recollections of this. I do remember being SO releived to see her! we also HAD to stop by white castle (of course) and walked up to the drive thru cuz the inside is closed right now for renovations. people were yelling at us from their cars, who knows what they were saying. Friday we did a little shopping at Ragarama, met Sally and Mark at Betty's before browsing around the Short North for a while, and then we had dinner at the Happy Greek and got a drink or 2 at Surly Girl. we were so tired tho, so we made it an early night after that. Saturday we grabbed lunch at the North Market and got some Jeni's ice cream while we walked home. on the way we checked out the new whiskey bar on high and tried a flight of scotch and a flight of bourbon, that was interesting. We had dinner at Hoggy's that night and went to Bodega for drinks. Again, drunkie :) both sally and julia ended up breaking glasses on the table, we're not even sure how ha! what, are they made of sugar?? julia wiped out too, walking thru the bar cuz the table area where we were sitting is a step up from the bar area and i guess she forgot that was there hahaha! Today, sunday, Julia was invited to Mark's family's place for lunch so she left here around noon :( His family lives somewhere in another area of Ohio, I'm not sure where, so that will be a day trip for them so I bet I wont see her again before she goes back to NYC. They have a flight back early tomorrow morning, and she'll be there a few days doing some interviews. hopefully she can get a job! It was so great to see her and I hope to go visit her in london sometime soon. I'll miss you Julia!!

we might miss our beloved 80's night! this is a disaster. while i am still super excited to see her and cant wait for our weekend of fun, 80's night is our thing and i cant beleive we might miss it! she was supposed to get in at 8:30 but didnt board (at newark) until 9:45 so yeah. we'll see what happens. we went to ladie's 80's almost every week for a year and a half, and we raged every time! 80's is always fun but never the same without julia. and this was gonna be our grand reunion. so how am i killing the time (read:numbing the pain)? wine. one glass after another.

UPDATE: she just landed, 8 minutes before midnight. my girl is here!!!!!!!!

WE GOT OUR PHISH TICKETS!!!!!

THANK GOD my dad and tim's dad entered the lottery for us!!! tim and i got nothing but tim;s dad got the gorge tickets and mine got red rocks. IT COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am the happiest girl in the world right now!!!! we are facing a good 2 weeks driving around this beautiful country, going to AMAZING shows and dancing to the most inspirational music out there. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most happy day is approaching!!!

My dear Julia will be here in 2 short days!!!! She's flying across the pond to come visit!!! my 80's buddy will be back! for only a weekend, sure, but anything is better than nothing :) and we will be hitting up ladies 80's together for the first time since she left last april! the whole weekend is going to be a wonderful drunken haze and i cant wait!! get here soon, Julia!!!

Bootcamp update

Well, i am about halfway thru the second week and its been going well! one slight worry: durring last friday's class i started to feel a slight soreness in the middle of my back when i ran or did any high-impact exercises. it went away over the weekend but came back after i did my timed mile last night and i felt it all during class today. i hope this isnt something that could potentially be bad. i talked to my instructor and she gave me alternate activites to do when she asks us to do ones i know will bother my back, and i have had ice on it this morning to try and help the inflamation. it doesnt hurt so much as its just a dull ache. i have no idea what caused it. but thankfully it doesnt stop me from doing most exercises and i have been having fun all the same! molly and i missed the timed mile since she was out of town yesterday, so i did it on my own last night after work. 10min. 12 sec, not bad! at the end of camp we will do it again and see how much we've improved. we also did a pushup trial, just had to do as many as we could do in one minute. well, i could barely do one regular pushup so i did mine on my knees, which they allow, and still could only do 13. so pathetic! i will have to do it on my knees again at the end of bootcamp in order to have a fair comparison, but for my own personal reasons i will try to do regular ones on my own and see how many i can do. anything is better than one!

UPDATE: Phish pre-sale lottery results will be in TODAY!

and i am freaking out!! please oh please oh please let us get the tickets we want! of course, if we dont get them we can always try for the public sale starting this thursday but that's even more stressful than this is!! these shows are going to sell out in a nanosecond and my summer happiness depends on them!! also, if we get the presale tickets they are much cooler than normal ticketmaster tickets. they have sweet art on them and all that jazz. adds to the collection :) i just love tim's idea of driving out west and making a vaca out of this, so i hope we luck out. i will update with the results! tim and i both entered the lottery individually and our parents each entered for us too in an effort to boost our chances a little. thanks mom and dad and ump and hum!!! results to come soon......

UPDATE: just saw this post on a phan blog i follow, this guy has alot more experience with me so he has quite a bit more insight into this situation than i do... he def shares my hatred for ticketbastard, brokers, and douchbags who turn around and try to resell tickets at a million times face value. wtf is wrong with those people???

NEW Phish tour dates announced!!!

this is very exciting!! tim and i are trying the presale lottery for red rocks (CO) and the gorge (WA) shows at the beginning of august. everyone cross your fingers for us!! if we dont get any of those then hopefully we can get them when they go on sale to the public, but all our chances are slim. all we can do is try! there are 4 days between each of those runs so we're gonna drive around a bit out west and see some beautiful sights. which tickets we get will determine the course of our trip tho. we might get some, all, or none, you never know. here's all the info:

Phish News

Bootcamp has started!!!!!

well, it started yesterday so this is a day late but whatever. it was really fun!! they send an email each sunday with the schedule of what areas of the body will be focused on each day and since molly and i are doing 3 days a week we can pick and choose which days to go to based on that. i am all sore now lol, my butt and legs are hurting the most. i was hobbling all around my apt this morning trying to get ready haha! i can't wait to see what my results will be :) i'm also trying to keep up on eating well, i still have alot to learn i think. what i really need to do is do some research and consolidate it all into an easy chart or list that i can refer to. i'm gonna do that in the next day or two. wish me luck!!

p.s. happy st patricks day!!!

Happy St Patty's Day!!!

Oh what a weekend!! I've been in chicago to visit lindsay and see one of our favorite bands, Gaelic Storm, at the House of Blues for St Patty's Day. They are a REDICULOUS irish band and put on one of the funnest shows you could hope to see. A bluegrass band opened for them and came out durring their set to jam and it was amazing!! we danced til we were dead on our feet and our hands were numb from clapping in time so hard. Chicago goes all out for st patty's day, there were people all over the streets decked out in green from morning til night. when linds and i went to pick up food and drinks for the little afternoon party we threw we got caught up in a crowd of at least 30 kids all screaming and celebrating in the subway at noon! it was so funny! here are a few select pics, enjoy!

Videos from the Mothership... Phish, Hampton VA

Oh how I wish i was there.... this first video was posted by some lucky asshole who not only got into the show but scoped out a perfect spot on the floor, dead center. this was a general admission show despite being a venue that seats 13,000 or so. so needless to say i hate this guy. but for those of you who dont know phish this will give you a taste of what they are like.

Did you notice the giant blue orbs hanging above the audience in the video above? they changed color throughout the entire night as they pointed different lights at them (i know this from all the videos i have watched) and durring the song below we see they happen to be giant balloons! they had to be at least 8 or 10 ft in diameter, enormous. They dropped them over the audience durring Bouncing Round the Room and you'll see one even popped over Page (on keys) as he played! What a sight!

Spring is HERE!!!

It is warm and gorgeous out FINALLY!!! We took Jerry to the park today for the first time in months. There were so many dogs there! now i'm sitting here scrapping with a glass of wine and all the windows open, it is glorious!! Please let winter be over now!

Phish Reunion TONIGHT!!!....

...and tomorrow night, and the next day. This is both a happy and sore spot for me as I am THRILLED that Phish are back together but I'm truely bitter that Tim and I missed out on tickets to thier reunion 3-night run at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA. Why oh why did they have to choose a venue that only seats like 13,000??? Add to that the fact that they sold the tickets in 3-night packages and they unsurprisingly sold out in about 5 seconds. literally. At least we have tickets to some of their summer tour shows: we'll to see them at Deer Creek this summer (outside Indianapolis) and at Bonnaroo!! Ugg but I want to be there tonight! The scene must be amazing outside the Mothership as we speak. I am checking up on it thru the Phish blog I follow but all that's accomplishing is massive bouts of jealousy. Just think about the summer.... just think about the summer....

It was supposed to be released over thanksgiving but they postponed it til july for some stupid business reason. so i wait. and today there was an amazing trailer released and its incredible! unfortunately i cant seem to find a way to post it here so go to the mugglenet story and choose one of the options to watch it. it looks amazing!!!

Tatiana is back!

On Idol this year are doing a wild card episode where the judges pick 8 previously eliminated contestants to have another go at getting into the top 12 and they picked Tatiana!! omg let the crazy begin. I think she almost peed her pants when they announced her name.

Ahhhh Redbull, the fuel of life

how would i get thru my afternoon without it?

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES CAME TODAY!!

I am thoroughly over-excited about this!! 1 box tagalongs, 2 boxes Samoas (the best kind), 1 box thinmints and i'm trying a box of the lemon chalet cremes, mmmmmm! One of the dudes on the graphics team has a daughter in girl scouts so he brought her order form in like MONTHS ago and they are finally here!!! yaaaaay!!!

mmmm mmm mmmmmmm doin the happy dance.

Britney... WTF

Britney Spears kicked off her new Circus tour and here are some snapshots I found on The Superficial today.... when they said "circus" they weren't kidding. I have a feeling her shows are more like giant broadway productions whipped up with slutty dancing and a pinch of lipsyncing. I wouldn't know, i've never been to one. Just had to share. At least she looks really good again!

Girls Next Door is OOOOOVVEEERRRRR!!! :*(

Well this is a couple days late but is anyone else as sad about this as i am??? I loved that show. Kendra was my favorite, but i really loved bridget and holly was hysterical. BUT every cloud has a silver lining and Kendra will be getting her own show starting in june (named, brilliantly enough, "Kendra") following her after she moves out of the mansion and plans her wedding to Hank Baskett. Bridget is hosting a show on the travel channel called Bridget's Sexiest Beaches. She'll travel around to different beaches around the world, exploring the local culture, yada yada yada. Whatever, I will be watching it. Who knows what Holly will do, all she had going on was dating the worlds biggest douche Criss Angel, and now they've broken up. Well, Kanye is the world's biggest douche but thats another blog. I will miss they're hilarious antics. Farewell Girls Next Door!!

St. Patty's Day is coming!!!

In just 9 days, for the second year in a row, I am going to visit Lindsay in Chicago for St. Patty's day! Well, St. Patty's day weekend since the actual holiday is on a tuesday. I cannot wait!! Gaelic Storm, a Celtic-Rock band we LOVE, will be playing at the House of Blues again. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Irish music?? Just give me songs about drinking, a fiddle, and a dude with an accent so thick you can barely understand him and I'm in heaven! I was first introduced to them at the Irish Fest in Columbus a couple summers ago (one of the best weekends of the summer!) and have been hooked ever since! Chicago really pulls out all the stops for St. Patty's Day, too. They dye the river green, there's a parade, and people decked out in green wigs, clothes, beads, and costumes crowd the streets. And when i say dye the river green, I mean bright neon radioactive green. Here's a few choice pics from last year, and I will be posting the new ones after I recover from the weekend :)

Penn and Teller get Hippies to sign a Petition to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide....as in H2O

I find it hard to beleive that NO ONE asked what Dihydrogen Monoxide is lol! I'd like to think if someone came up to me at Bonnaroo with a random petition I would ask for the full story before signing. But while this does make a good point, I think it would have been made better on the streets of new york or something, where there's a broader demographic walking by. It's not completely fair to trick environmental fair-goers with a misleading environmental petition. It would be safe for anyone there to assume that any petition going around would be legit since that goes along with the theme of the whole event. Just sayin. BUT this is still funny all the same :)

Comments

So I only just realized, with the help of Berz's little blurb about comments, that i had to change a setting to allow anyone to comment on my posts as opposed to just registered users. well, its changed so.... happy commenting :)

Chelsea Lately lol!

"The only way to continue your fanbase for years and years to come is if you have gay guys for fans, they stay forever, and potheads. Those are the only two types of fans. Not 14 yr old girls cuz soon they're gonna get their periods and move on, ok??"
- Chelsea Handler on the Jonas Brothers saying their fans are going to stay with them forever.
hahahahahaahahahaha!!!

wow

Those Rock of Love bitches are drunken sloppy amazing channels of entertainment lol!!

Amanda is amazing

My dearest and oldest friend of 18 years, gorgeous and beautiful Amanda Buffington (seen above in the red scarf next to my other equally gorgeous best friend Lindsay in the red shirt, and also giving me a kiss at Ladie's 80's) has been out in L.A. for the last 5 years or so trying to be an actress. (side note: keep her in your thoughts and wish her well!). Well, she just got a job to work as an extra for a couple days on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland!!! That is the coolest thing i have ever heard!!! She tells me her costume is elaborate and amazing and she will be in the White Queen's court, the White Queen being played by Anne Hathaway. Johnny Depp will be the Mad Hatter... What other roll could he be?? Helena Bonham Carter is the Queen of Hearts... this is going to be an amazing movie!! Super super cool. Go Amanda!

Make me a Superhero!

I found this fluff of a website, The Hero Factory, where you can make yourself into a superhero! As you can see I am a cyclops/butterfly/whipsaber wielding bitch. This is clearly the most awesome thing ever. I might have to make this into a halloween costume.... who wouldn't want blue skin???

How they got the Hudson airplane outta there

WOW! These are pics of how they had to manuever the plane that crashed into the hudson thru the streets on new jersey. These streets weren't exactly made for planes! This is pretty cool....

Colbert takes us back to 1997 LOL!

This will never get old... SO cool.
